Furniture Reimagined

Highlighting Lorraine Ruprecht

When Lorraine moved from Brooklyn to Westfield nine years ago, she brought more than just boxes and memories; she brought a creative spirit that would eventually transform into something truly special. A mom of two, her daughter now heading into high school and her son in middle school, Lorraine’s journey into the world of furniture started most unexpectedly- during a global pandemic.

Even though Lorraine used to work in media, like many of us during COVID, Lorraine found herself at home, staring at pieces of furniture she no longer needed, but couldn’t quite part with. Instead of tossing them, she got creative. But her pieces started catching attention. Friends and neighbors began asking if she could do the same for their furniture. Before long, people were dropping off childhood dressers, family heirlooms, and worn-down nightstands, hoping Lorraine could breathe new life into them.

Lorraine doesn’t just repaint or refinish, she repurposes with purpose. Each piece comes with a story, and she takes time to get to know the people behind them.

From antique dressers and mirror frames to desks, dining tables, and even two pianos, Lorraine has tackled all kinds of transformations. Her favorite part? Seeing someone’s face light up when they see a beloved old item turned into something that feels brand new.

Today, Lorraine’s garage-turned-workshop is filled with works in progress: end tables waiting for new legs, chairs being reupholstered, and dresser drawers lined with fresh paper and paint. Some pieces go back to their original owners, some get sold to new homes, but all of them leave with a second life.
